Winter Driving and Your Jacket: What to Keep in the Car

Categories:

A winter breakdown can leave you waiting in the cold for a long time. Keeping warm clothing in the car is a small precaution that can make a big difference.

Wearing a bulky jacket while driving can interfere with seat belts and movement, so many people drive in lighter layers and keep a warm jacket within reach. Stow one in the boot if you travel on cold roads.

Add gloves, a hat, a blanket, a torch and a small supply of snacks and water. These items are light and take little space.

Check your kit at the start of winter, replace anything damaged and make sure your phone is charged before you set off. Being prepared turns a stressful event into an inconvenience.
